Siyoh Tomiyama 1961- |

Born in 1961 in Yamagata.
Tomiyama studied classical guitar under Yuichi Wakaki. He
began to compose by himself at 17 years old, and then
entered the mathematic section of Science department of
Yamagata University, but spent with students and teachers
for composition of Music department. At the same time he
learned music history and music theory by himself, and began
to study composition under Ichiro Kudo. After he moved
Tokyo, Tomiyama studied guitar under Fukuo Itoh, and went
the library of Kunitachi College of Music to listen and
study masterpieces from ancient to contemporary music. Then
he entered the diploma course of classical guitar of Tokyo
Music Conservatory Shobi, but his main study was
composition. Tomiyama was greatly influenced by professor
Akira Nishimura, so he were interested in ethnic music. He
trained at Ethnic Music Center, Kichijoji for several
years. |
