At age 15, he began his study in piano and composition. In 1996, he was accepted to Kunitachi College of Music, but leaves after a year of study. His main teachers included Hideo Mizokami and Motoharu Kawashima. Amongst many awards, Nishizawa received Promotion Award at the 3rd Fukui Harp Music Award in the composition division in August of 1998, and in January of 1999, was awarded the First Prize, Kodama Prize, at the 5th International Competition of Piano Duo Music Composition in Tokyo. This duo piece was selected as the required piece for the 5th Piano Duo Competition. He received the First Prize at the 4th Tokyo International Composition Competition of Chamber Music in December of 1999. His other activities include his very first private exhibition concert in Brussels, Belgium (May/June 2001), the highly acclaimed premiere of Kammersymphonie fur 7 Insutrumentalisten at the Festival Sinaloa de las Artes 2001 in Mexico, and the premiere of Sonate pour Guitare seul at the 18th Tsukuba International Music Festival (2002). In December of 2002, he held his first private exhibition concert in Japan at the Tsuda Hall in Tokyo. |
