Shiki Nagashima (b.1961)

Born in 1961 in Tokyo. When he was 13 years old, he began to play the guitar under Akinori Minami, and then entered Real Concervatorio Superior de Musica in Madrid in 1979. His teacher was Jorge Arriza. In 1984, Nagashima won a competition in the Conservatorio, and graduated as a top student, and got Diploma for Artistic performer. In 1987 he won the 4th prize of Fransisco T‡rrega International Competition, and was awarded Andres Segovia Prize in Ramirez International Competition. In the same year, He made a debut concert at Ateneo in Madrid under sponsorship of Madrid Guitar Society. Nagashima has studied under many teachers: Jose Luis Gonzarez, David Russell, Ernesto Bitetti, Jose Luiz Rodrigo, Haruo Kusaka, Anri Shibata.

Presently Nagashima is active as a performer, educator, arranger. As a performer, his concert involve solo, ensemble and chamber music. He is a member of Tokyo Guitar Quartet. He has released CDs: Guitar Master Pieces 22 (1993, Gendai Guitar), Love Song, Aguado Studies (1996, Super Nova), as well as Scene in Blue (1998), Reminiscence (2002) and Four Elements (2004) with the Tokyo Guitar Quartet. Also he played duets with Hirokazu Sato in Autumn Sonatina (Gendai Guitar). Also he published many music books: Christmas Music for guitar (Gendai Guitar), Classical Music for guitar, Baroque Music for guitar (Shinko Music) etc.
